Homes and neighbourhoods in Stirling, Scotland
Stirling climbs from the Forth valley to the castle rock. The Old Town packs stone houses onto steep streets; newer districts spread south and east through St Ninians, Riverside and Bannockburn.
The rock, the Old Town and the Top of the Town
Stirling Castle sits on a volcanic crag. Beneath it, the Top of the Town still shows the medieval street plan: narrow fronts, thick stone walls, and windows that have to sit comfortably in a public elevation. Read Replacing windows in a Stirling Old Town house for more.
Raploch, Cornton and Causewayhead
North and west of the rock, Raploch and Cornton hold a mix of twentieth-century housing. Causewayhead sits under Abbey Craig and the Wallace Monument; houses here feel the weather coming off the Carse. FK9 covers much of Causewayhead along with Bridge of Allan and Dunblane.
Riverside, Braehead and St Ninians
Riverside and Braehead are later residential streets where UPVC and composite entrances are common. St Ninians stretches south with a long high street history and estates that grew through the last century.
Whins of Milton, Torbrex, Kings Park and Cambusbarron
Whins of Milton sits toward the Bannockburn edge. Torbrex and Kings Park hold quieter residential pockets. Cambusbarron, west of the city, has its own village feel while remaining part of the wider Stirling housing market.
Bannockburn
Bannockburn is both a historic landscape and a living neighbourhood. The Battle of Bannockburn visitor centre and grounds sit nearby — linked below.
